Our Story of how we went from meeting on social to developing a local creative platform on social media to connect new people, places, and opportunities in the community.

How It All Began in Eastchester, NY
What started as a chance connection on social media in March 2023 turned into a creative journey rooted in Eastchester. JoAnna, a natural connector and retail manager at Vernon Hills, met Stephen—a local first responder with a passion for photography and community service.

Bonding over creativity and shared values, they began capturing Eastchester events together—from town fairs to new store openings. In September 2023, Stephen handed JoAnna a second camera, sparking her love for photography. With caffeine and Canva, they launched JoAnna Tam Collective a year later at the Eastchester Barnes & Noble.

Today, they continue to tell stories through media, driven by a mission to uplift local businesses and communities—starting in Eastchester and expanding beyond.

JoAnna’s Goal:

JoAnna’s view is unique. She is only able to see images clearly with her left eye. She loves light and bright photos, but a little touch of color that fades through to create a softer feel, essentially very romantic. She has a background in bridal styling and weddings, so the floral colors, the bright lights, soft touches, and textures shine through when capturing a product photo, event, or individuals.

Stephen’s Goal when taking photos is a broad view with close attention to detail, like photography style with individually and uniquely captured images, focuses, and intention.

Stephen’s Favorite Photography is with Eastchester EMS, Fire, Police, and Community Events - among Family Photography & landscapes. He went to college briefly for this craft, yet found himself more as a passionate first responder with hopes and training to become an Eastchester Police Officer or Fireman since 2021, when he first enrolled in exams. He has since made a name for himself in the community through his photography and social media presence on @creative_smb and as the leading photographer for Eastchester EMS & Police, capturing first responders, his brother, and amazing friends along the way.
